BOCCE LEAGUES

In last Thursday’s women’s games, PFC defeated Mazza Bros., 12-10, and City Pizza, 12-3; Southern Auto beat City Pizza, 12-3; and Mazza took the win over Southern, 12-7. In Tuesday’s men’s games, Pine Nuts defeated Camilli Chiropractor, 12-9, and Cacia’s Bakery, 12-10; Chef’s Market beat Cacia’s, 12-11, and Rudi’s Formal Wear, 12-9; Rudi’s took the win over Casa dei Pazzi, 12-11; and Camilli defeated Casa, 12-10. The men’s league plays Tuesdays and the women’s league plays Thursdays starting at 7:30 p.m. at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets.

CAPITOLO MEN’S SOFTBALL

The Capitolo men’s softball league is accepting new teams for the 2004 season. Managers must call Louise, 215-685-1883, as soon as possible, as only a few openings remain. Managers of women’s modified teams also are invited to inquire. The playground also is holding registration for its 12-and-under youth basketball league. Call Greg, 215-685-1883.

GUERIN ACTIVITIES

Registration is being held for boys’ and girls’ indoor soccer for ages 12 and under at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets. Parents can register their children Monday-Friday, 3-8 p.m., or call 215-685-1894 to make an appointment. The $15 fee, which includes shirt and award, is due at signup. Registration also continues for boys’ basketball for ages 14 and under and 12 and under. The same fee applies.

MIDWEST BASEBALL ACADEMY

Lincoln University baseball, an NCAA Division III intercollegiate program, has teamed up with the Midwest Baseball Academy to host an instructional baseball camp for players in grades two through 12. The six-week national training program will take place at the university on Baltimore Pike in Lincoln University, Pa., on Jan. 4, 11 and 18 and Feb. 1, 15 and 22. The Lincoln-Midwest Baseball Academy camp will provide intensive instruction to participating youths in the areas of hitting and pitching at a cost of $95 per player. POINT BREEZE BASKETBALL

The Point Breeze Civic Association is registering boys and girls for its winter basketball league. Signups for boys ages 9-12 are held Wednesdays; boys 14-16, Thursdays. SALUTE TO PHILLY BOXERS

UYA BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The Urban Youth Association will hold opening-day ceremonies for its 2003-04 developmental basketball league Saturday at Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 17th and Fitzwater streets. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. Ollie Johnson, a local resident and former Sixer, will get a UYA sport role-model award.
