SPORTS DEADLINE
The deadline for sports notices is Monday at noon. Due to space restrictions, all briefs must be limited to 30-50 words. Submissions should be typed or neatly printed, with both a contact number for verification and one for publication. Names should be properly spelled and include both first and last names. Phoned-in items will be rejected. The same brief will not be run for more than three consecutive weeks.


BOCCE LEAGUES
In last Thursday’s women’s games of the South Philadelphia Bocce League, City Pizza defeated PFC, 12-9, and Mazza Bros., 12-6; and Southern Auto beat Mazza, 12-6, and PFC, 12-6. In Tuesday’s men’s games, Cacia’s Bakery defeated Rudi’s Formal Wear, 12-8, and Casa dei Pazzi, 12-9; Pine Nuts beat Casa, 12-5, and Chef’s Market, 12-9; Rudi’s took the win over Camilli Chiropractic, 12-2; and Chef’s Market defeated Camilli, 12-4. Men’s games are played Tuesdays and women’s games are played Thursdays starting 7:30 p.m. at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets.


CAPITOLO WOMEN’S SOFTBALL

DVYAA BASEBALL
The association is accepting registration for its spring baseball programs weeknights, 6-8, and Saturdays, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Barry Playground, 18th and Johnston streets. Age groups are 5-7 (tee-ball), 8-9 (peewee), 10-12 (majors) and 13-15 (seniors). Call 215-468-1265.


EOM BASEBALL

EUROPEAN VOLLEYBALL
The Goodwill Ambassadors are accepting applications from high-school-age volleyball players in the United States and Canada to participate in an exchange program in Europe. Members of this team will represent their country, community and Goodwill Ambassadors teams in tournaments and local competitions in London, Paris, Geneva, Venice and Rome. PHILADELPHIA STARS
The Philadelphia Stars baseball club, a multiethnic team of 13-year-olds, is seeking donations to fund its Throw Back Tour-’04, a 15-city cross-country odyssey of baseball, history and cultural awareness. Led by Steve Bandura, coach and program director at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 17th and Fitzwater streets, the young ballplayers will embark on a 3,700-mile barnstorming tour through the pages of baseball lore. The team will board an authentic 1947 Clipper Bus in mid-June to begin a 20-day journey visiting ballparks in Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit, Cooperstown and other cities. PHILLIES ROOKIE LEAGUE

SABRES BASEBALL
Registration is being held every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. through this month at Sixth Street and Packer Avenue. The age divisions are 4-6 (tee-ball), 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15 and 16-19. The cost is $50 for tee-ball and $85 for all other divisions. All teams are welcome. Baseball and tee-ball registration is underway. The season will begin April 24. The age divisions are 4-6 (tee-ball), 7-8 (pitching machine), 8-10 and 10-12 (live pitch), and 13-15 and 16-19 (Babe Ruth). The cost is $60 for tee-ball and $70 for all other divisions. SOUTHWEST SEAHAWKS
The Southwest Philly Seahawks of the La Belle Community Football League are seeking players for the upcoming season. The LCFL is a full-contact league for athletes 18 and over. Athletes must weigh in at 250 pounds by Sept. 4 (there will be five exceptions for weight). Players will compete against 19 other LCFL teams for the first league championship trophy and rings.
