SPORTS DEADLINE
The deadline for sports notices is Monday at noon. Due to space restrictions, all briefs must be limited to 30-50 words. Submissions should be typed or neatly printed, with both a contact number for verification and one for publication. Names should be properly spelled and include both first and last names. Phoned-in items will be rejected. The same brief will not be run for more than three consecutive weeks.


ALL-CITY CLASSIC
The Philadelphia U.S.A. basketball program will hold its 10th annual Stay in School Adidas All-City Classic on June 5 at La Salle University. Tip-off for the first game is at 1 p.m. The top freshmen, sophomores and juniors from the Philadelphia Public and Catholic leagues will participate. Philly U.S.A. was formed to develop fellowship among athletes who have high grades and good attendance. Past participants include Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Miami Heat forward and South Philadelphia native Rasual Butler and National College Player of the Year Jameer Nelson. GORETTI BASKETBALL CAMP

JIMMY WILSON BASKETBALL CAMP
The Jimmy Wilson basketball camp and summer league is seeking boys and girls to play in age divisions 6-10, 10-14 and 14-18. Call 215-577-6919 by June 15.


JUNIOR OLYMPIC EVENT

MURPHY BASKETBALL
Murphy Recreation Center, Third and Shunk streets, will hold an instructional girls’ basketball camp June 21-25. The camp runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday and is open to all 10-12-year-old girls. The one-week camp costs $25 and includes a T-shirt. Lunch will be provided daily. Call 215-685-1874.


NEUMANN BASKETBALL CAMP

POINT BREEZE BASKETBALL

ROMAN ICE HOCKEY
The Roman Catholic middle-school ice-hockey team is holding registration for boys in fifth-eighth grades for the upcoming season. Games will be played at IceLine in West Chester. SEYAA SOCCER
Registration is underway for the fall outdoor soccer program, which will begin play Sept. 11. All prior participants will receive a registration form by mail. Registration for the Sigma Sharks football and cheerleading squads for ages 8-15 will start Tuesday. SPNAL SUMMER PROGRAMS
Orientation for the South Philadelphia Neighborhood Athletic League will be held June 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Vare Recreation Center, 26th and Moore streets. The program is for youths ages 9-14. ‘THE CONTENDER’ TRYOUTS
The Joe Hand Boxing Gym, 1229 N. Howard St. in Fishtown, will host auditions June 4-6 for the NBC reality television series The Contender. The show will be about the lives of 16 boxers. Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard will mentor the young fighters as they compete for the million-dollar prize. On the days of the auditions, doors will open at noon and close at 8 p.m. Boxers are asked to bring workout clothes and a mouthpiece (all other equipment will be supplied).
