Sports update

No other local playoff squads enjoyed the success of CAPA volleyball, but individual athletes still managed to shine in last week’s action.

GAMP baseball

GAMP closed out the season with a 12-3 quarterfinal loss to Washington last Thursday. The local squad fell behind 9-2 after three innings and never recovered. Junior infielder Vinnie Evangelista tripled for the local squad, which finished the game with eight hits. Evangelista and fellow junior Dom DeMarco are Second Team selections on the coaches’ All-Public Team.


GAMP softball

The Pioneers softball squad also was quashed in the quarterfinals in last Thursday’s 12-5 loss to Frankford. GAMP went ahead 2-1 in the first inning, but Frankford exploded for eight runs in the second. GAMP was held to five hits. The squad finished the season with an overall record of 9-9.


Neumann track

Senior John Wilsman finished first in the 400-meter hurdles in Sunday’s Catholic League championship at Widener University. The runner finished the race in 55.31 seconds.
