Cloaked in tradition

Time certainly hasn’t dulled the annual Mummers Parade. Like a fine wine, it only has gotten better with age.
Philadelphia’s traditional event, now in its 106th year, has the costumes, color and charisma to awaken even the biggest party animal from a New Year’s Eve stupor.
As if the march up Broad Street isn’t spectacular enough, audiences will be wowed with a new exhibit during the Fancy Brigades’ two shows at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Attendees can view full costumes, try on special garbs and get their faces painted — Mummers style.
For those looking for shelter from nature’s elements, head over to the judging show scheduled for 5 p.m. at the center. SPR
