The seventh annual Garry Maddox BBQ Challenge takes place 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. Phillies General Manager Pat Gillick, former Phillie Mitch Williams, 610 WIP’s Glen Macnow and Philadelphia-area chefs will serve as celebrity judges for the challenge.

Admission is free and the event features music, classic cars, games and an appearance by Mayor Michael Nutter. Guests can sample barbecue and other foods from restaurants such as Bull’s BBQ, McFadden’s Ballpark and Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant. Sampling tickets are available for purchase with three for $10.

Activities will unfold along Citizens Bank Way on the west side of the ballpark prior to the Phillies/Dodgers 3:55 p.m. game.

Proceeds benefit the Youth Golf & Academics Program, an enrichment program founded by Maddox to support children in grades kindergarten through eighth who reside in troubled neighborhoods. SPR
