POINT BREEZE BASKETBALL

Registration for the Point Breeze Civic Association’s basketball leagues are at Vare Middle School, 24th Street and Synder Avenue, 6:15 p.m. Mondays for ages 10 to 13 and 10 a.m. Saturdays for ages 6 to 9 and 14 to 16. The association also is seeking winter basketball coaches and teams for ages 16 and younger. Call 215-755-6628 or visit the office at 1518 S. 22nd St.

SEYAA WINTER SPORTS

Registration in person for SEYAA basketball and indoor soccer at Taggart School, Fifth and Porter streets, is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 or request a registration packet at seyaasports@aol.com. Age divisions are 4 to 6 (biddy basketball); 7 to 8; and 9 to 10.

Indoor soccer is for ages 4 to 7. All games are at Taggart School from January through March. Practices begin Dec. 1. Call 215-463-8802.

SOUTH PHILLY BASKETBALL SHOWCASE

South Philadelphia High, Broad Street and Snyder Avenue, is holding a basketball tournament Dec. 12 to 13. Bodine will play Frankford at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 12 followed by Southern/Prep Charter at 4:30. Triple-header action follows Dec. 13 with Bodine/Bartram at noon, Frankford/Glen Mills at 1:30 p.m. and Southern/Penn Wood at 3.

Admission is $7; $5 for students with ID; and $3 for ages 12 and younger.

WARRIORS WIN AGAIN

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel football team, the Two Street Warriors, defeated Souderton-based St. August/Sacred Heart 18-14 in the Nov. 22 Parade of Champions contest at Villanova Stadium.

Kareem Custos, Danny McQuilkin, Sakeem Johnson and Leighm Doughtery led the defensive effort, which included creating three first-half turnovers. With 1:20 left in the fourth quarter, linebacker Todd Jones deflected a pass, which could’ve resulted in a touchdown for the opposition.

Quaterback Michael Keir then led the Warriors down the field with two completions to tight end Eric Holt.

With 24 seconds remaining, the South Philly squad sealed the victory with a touchdown pass to Eric Neil.
