Where in the world will Steve "USS" Cunningham’s next title defense be?

This time around the IBF cruiserweight champion doesn’t have to worry about spending several hours traveling to foreign territories like Poland or Germany. For the first time since January 2006, the pugilist will be fighting on American soil at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

His opponent is former world champion and current No. 1 contender Tomasz Adamek, 35-1, 24 KOs.

Unlike his recent encounters, his Philadelphia fans will be able to watch every jab and uppercut live on Versus, beginning 8 p.m. The fighter, formerly of the 2100 Block of South Simpson Street, won the belt in May 2007 with a majority decision over Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Seven months later, he defended the crown with a 12th round TKO of Marco Huck. Cunningham, 21-1, 11 KOs, said Adamek is bigger than he thought.

"But size doesn’t mean much," the 6-foot-3 fighter said. "Some of my toughest fights were against smaller guys."
