Roman Catholic High School senior Giovanni DiSalvatore of the 2600 block of Rosewood Street is competing in this weekend’s 83rd annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta on Boathouse Row.
Qualifying takes place tomorrow, with the finals Saturday. DiSalvatore and his teammates are looking to qualify for the boys’ senior quad, an event in which the Center City school finished second in 2008. The resident hopes to add to successful showings at Villanova and Drexel universities.
The regatta is the oldest and largest high school rowing competition in the United States. More than 5,000 students from 180 high schools are competing. Events will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
