It was a time of celebration and appreciation on June 19 for the members of Consolation “Holy Ghost” Baptist Church, 2500 Wharton St., as they honored Bishop Alden Gaines and his wife, Pastor Marie D. Gaines. The couple, who have been married for 51 years, founded the church where they have been practicing pastors for the past 47 years.
Congregants and fellow pastors felt it was time to express their gratitude for the Gaines’ years of loyal service to the church and community. Pastor Harry Bass organized an appreciation banquet in West Philly, where friends and family members gathered to show their thanks and share fond stories of their gracious founding pastors.
