James Cameron, 18, of the 2300 block of South 22nd Street, was believed to have been arguing with his sister at their Girard Estate home, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. His 47-year-old mother told the girl to call police, but Cameron allegedly broke the phone before she could. Cameron then allegedly punched a glass door of a china cabinet with his left hand and ran after his 55-year-old stepfather with a piece of glass. His mother broke up the fight and ordered her husband upstairs, but the teen followed.

Cameron allegedly walked into the man’s second-floor bedroom at 11:05 p.m. and jabbed him with the glass cutting his left side before the stepfather fled the home, Tolliver said.

The stepfather was transported to Methodist Hospital, treated for a puncture wound to his left side and a cut to his right wrist and released, Tolliver said.

Cameron was arrested shortly after two blocks away on the 2100 block of South Beechwood Street and transported to Methodist where he received three stitches on his left forearm and hand, Tolliver said.

Cameron was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.
