A man was held at gunpoint while walking his dog through Point Breeze Saturday evening.

The 57-year-old was strolling south along the 1200 block of South 20th Street with his canine at 6:30 p.m. when a woman asked for a quarter, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He told her he didn’t have any money and kept walking. A few steps later, a man pointed a dark-colored, snub-nosed revolver at him and said, “I bet you do have money.”

The victim asked his attacker to put the gun away and he’d give him whatever he wanted, so the offender complied and put the gun in his pocket, Tolliver. The man pulled all of his money — $500 — from his wallet and handed it to the gunman, who then asked, “Do you have a watch or anything?” The victim handed over his gold and silver Rolex with a blue face, valued at $6,800 and the man fled south on 20th Street.

The victim ran half a block to the 17th District to report the incident, Tolliver said.

The suspect was described as black with a medium complexion, age 20, 6 foot, thin; having no facial hair; and wearing black pants, a black hoody and white sneakers. The woman is not believed to be involved in the robbery.
