A Whitman woman lost a hefty sum of cash and valuables from her home safe.
The 45-year-old reported she secured her home Saturday, but upon returning to the 2800 block of South Marshall Street Monday, she noticed her basement rear door had been forced open and her second floor bedroom was in disarray, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Her safe, containing $45,000, passport, citizen papers, two wedding bands and a diamond ring, were missing.
A medic unit transported the woman, who had suffered an anxiety attack, to Methodist Hospital, Tolliver said.
