A Point Breeze woman allegedly attacked someone 28 years her senior Friday.

A 67-year-old woman was approaching the Broad Street Line’s Ellsworth-Federal station entrance at 8:45 a.m., but stopped as she waited for Patricia Norton, 39, of the 1500 block of Latona Street, to pass, so she could use the railing to descend the stairs, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

Norton allegedly asked the woman, “What the … you looking at …?” and punched her in the face, Tolliver said. After the older woman fell backward, Norton is believed to have grabbed the victim’s hair, swung her body and struck her forehead into a pole. Norton allegedly punched and kicked her until passers-by intervened and she walked away northbound on Broad Street.

Police arrested Norton on the 1100 block of South Broad Street and charged her with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, according to court records. Norton had not posted her $3,000 bail as of press time.

The victim was transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of a bruised right eye, bump and scrape on her forehead, and torn ligament to her left ring finger, Tolliver said.
