The Taney Dragons are not leaving Williamsport just yet. The team representing the Mid-Atlantic region in the Little League World Series is facing a must-win situation 7:30 tonight (ESPN) against Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West. The winner advances to Saturday’s U.S. championship against Mountain Ridge, the same club that defeated the Dragons 8-1 Wednesday night. The Vegas-based club has outscored both teams by a combined scored of 21-3 in the double-elimination tournament.
Mo’ne Davis, who currently appears on the cover of Sports Illustrated, threw 55 pitches last night, allowing three runs while striking out six. Should Taney advance, the resident of 24thand Oakford streets would be eligible to pitch again Saturday.
