HomeAway puts more listings on Expedia.com

Vacation rental site HomeAway will distribute more than 115,000 vacation rental listings on the U.S. version of Expedia.com, building on a partnership between the companies announced last year that put 10,000 rental listings on Expedia.com in a pilot program.

Rental owners and property managers don’t have to pay more to opt in to the expanded distribution network, and will continue to use HomeAway to manage their listings. HomeAway charges users a 10 percent commission that’s paid by the booking, plus credit card processing fees.

“We’re very excited to have Expedia as the cornerstone partner for a network that will enable vacation rental owners and managers to reach travelers who typically book accommodations on large online travel sites,” says Brian Sharples, HomeAway co-founder and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Based in Austin, Texas, HomeAway Inc. operates sites advertising about 1 million vacation rentals in 190 countries, including HomeAway.com, VRBO.com and VacationRentals.com in the United States; HomeAway.co.uk and OwnersDirect.co.uk in the United Kingdom; HomeAway.de in Germany; Abritel.fr and Homelidays.com in France; HomeAway.es and Toprural.es in Spain; AlugueTemporada.com.br in Brazil; HomeAway.com.au in Australia; Bookabach.co.nz in New Zealand; and Asia-Pacific short-term rental site travelmob.com.
