A Monday lawsuit announced by States Attorney Zane David Memeger claims South Philadelphia Tap Room, 1509 Mifflin St., violated the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The lawsuit is the first to come as a result of the Philadelphia Restaurants ADA Compliance Review the U.S. Attorney’s Office undertook in March 2015 in an effort to evaluate the ADA compliance of 25 of the most popular and frequented Philadelphia restaurants. Longacre Holdings, LLC; LPMG Management Co.; LPMG Construction Management; LPMG Financial; Longacre Property Management Group; and Citywide Properties One also appear in the lawsuit.

The complaint contends the Newbold location is “engaging in a pattern or practice of discrimination due to numerous alleged violations of the disabilities act, with the offenses pertaining to the restaurant’s entrance and restrooms. The complaint goes on to say that the owners and operators of the establishment did not respond to “multiple communications from the U.S. Attorney’s Office informing them of the accessibility barriers that exist in the restaurant.”
