Police ventured to the 2000 block of South Dorrance Street at 12:35 p.m. Oct. 9 and observed two men fighting. The complainant told them his supposed attacker approached him and struck his head several times with a firearm, causing an abrasion, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He added that the two struggled over the gun, with the tussle causing the reported aggressor to discharge an errant round.
Police arrested Sylvester Ellis and charged the Port Richmond occupant with aggravated and simple assault, firearms violations, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. He awaits an Oct. 25 preliminary hearing.
