Law enforcement officials traveled to Dollar General, 2120 S. 23rd St., at 9:20 p.m. Oct. 23, learning that two employees were closing the site when a male approached the checkout line and began to unload merchandise, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He pulled out a silver and black gun and demanded cigarettes and cash.

Obtaining $1,000 in smokes and $3,000 in cash, he headed westbound toward the 1900 block of Jackson Street. The workers described him as black, approximately 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, and wearing brown pants underneath Islamic clothing.
