On Nov. 3, thanks to the efforts of the AFL-CIO; Anderson Construction; Laborers’ Local Union 57; and locally-based Olivieri & Associates, Inc., which donated the concrete and supplied the labor, Vare-Washington School, 1198 S. Fifth St., celebrated the unveiling of its new playground. Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO President Patrick J. Eiding, first from left, stated his organization is working on fixing the institution’s front door and enlisting plumbers to fix the fountains.
