The Academy at Palumbo boys volleyball team defeated George Washington 3-1 to win the Philadelphia Public League championship on Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln High School.
The Griffins won the first two sets before yielding the third set to Washington. In the fourth set, senior Jason Reyes slammed home the final kill to give Palumbo a 25-22 win in the deciding frame.
The Griffins won their fourth boys volleyball title in school history, having won the championship in 2010, 2018 and 2019. There was no champion in 2020 so Palumbo has won three out of the last four titles that were awarded.
