Rising Voices 2 Opening Reception – from 5-8 p.m. at Studio Incamminati on the 7th floor of the Bok Building, 1901 S. 9th St., over 40 realist paintings by some of the nation’s most promising women artists.
The exhibition features the finalists for the 2021 Bennett Prize, a major national competition for women realist painters, and a solo exhibition of the work of Aneka Ingold, winner of the 2019 Bennett Prize.
One of the nation’s top ateliers for contemporary realist painting, the faculty of Studio Incamminati teach the skills that unlock figurative realist art’s capacity to tell stories and to address the human condition in all its complexity.
This free exhibition presents a special opportunity for the young women of Philadelphia to take inspiration from a cast of talented female role models. The exhibition will be on view at Studio Incamminati through May 14.

Printmaking Workshop – From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave. For Children 6 and up, teens and adults, Try your hand at printing on a portable letterpress! An artist from The Soapbox Community Print Shop (phillysoapbox.org) will show participants how to make unique handmade prints, posters, fliers, and postcards.

Leon Jordan Jr. and his Jazz Band – At 3:30 p.m. at the Whitman Library, another in a series of free jazz concerts sponsored by Musicians Union Local 77. Leon Jordan Jr. and his band will explore the music and artistry of Legendary Jazz trumpeter Miles Davis in a program entitled “Miles on my Mind.”

Sandy Sprint Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk – at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the event will include the 5K Run/Walk, a Survivor Ceremony and live performances. All participants must pre-register. Registration fees are $40 for adults and $30 for children under 12. The Sandy Sprint supports women currently battling ovarian cancer, honors those who are survivors and raises funds to prevent future diagnoses.

Family Earth Day – From 2-4 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum in FDR Park. Join along for activities on recycling and sustainability. Families can learn about composting, get creative with recycled crafts, enjoy green books story nook and make starter plantings. This afternoon drop-in program is free. The program will take place under the tent on the terrace, rain or shine.

3ICE North American Tour – At 1 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center,, three-on-three professional North American ice hockey league makes a stop in South Philly. Each stop on the tour features four of the eight league teams, comprised of professional ice hockey players competing in three-on-three format for two eight-minute periods with a running clock.
