Home Opener Concert with Two Friends – From 3-8 p.m. at Xfinity Live! Attendees will enjoy a performance by LA-based DJ duo Matt Halper and Eli Sones. Tickets include access to the event area, outdoor bars and restrooms and food trucks. Followed by the concert, guests are welcome to attend Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football Pre-Game Show taking place in the valet lot. Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show – The show returns to the Square in center-city, marking its 96th year bringing fine art to all at this free event. One-hundred forty-five professional artists from around the country and Canada will exhibit their originals-only fine art work around the perimeter of the park. This year, the RSFAS will feature the Fleisher Art Memorial in the center of the park to celebrate its 125th anniversary. South Street Oktoberfest – The 15th Annual event kicks off Oktoberfest season with an all-day, all-ages block party on the 700 block of South St. with German beers and food, shaded seating in a giant tent for over 1,000 people, live music, dancers, dancing, liter lift competition, face painting, family fun and more. The event is free for general admission. Proud to be a Philadelphian – At the Red Rum Theatre at 6th and Walnut streets, Nick Colletta’s one-man show about his love for the city and his frustration with the outsiders who love to talk (smack) about Philadelphia. The show is a PowerPoint presentation performed and directed by Nick Colletta proving that Philadelphia is the greatest city in America. From the birth of freedom to the cheesesteak, Philadelphia has provided America with some of its greatest enjoyments. Mannequin – At 8 p.m. on Zoom, a musical dramedy by actor Jennfer Blaine about Olive, an elderly Jewish shopkeeper of a defunct fur store, and Patti, a young teen new to Philadelphia. Together they escape into memories of other eras, their imaginations and magical realism to find terrain where they forge a bond and find their true selves. Blaine plays 14 human and mannequin characters in this Zoom performance that asks the audience whether being witness to history is enough, or do they need to act to face the challenges of the time. The Words that Made Us – At 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of the American Revolution, constitutional scholar and Yale University professor Akhil Reed Amar joins the Museum as the distinguished lecturer for the fifth Carl M. Buchholz Memorial Lecture. His talk will focus on his most recent book The Words That Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversation, 1760-1840, which provides a history of the American Constitution’s formative decades. The hybrid event will take place in the Museum’s Liberty Hall and will be livestreamed for ticketed online viewers. Onsite tickets begin at $35 and include a signed copy of the book.
