Burlesque & Blues – from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Twisted Tail, 509 S. 2nd St., the 10th annual Burlesque & Blues celebration will be part dinner and part show, featuring a four-course prix fixe dinner, premium open bar and more. The Twisted Tail mainstay Mikey Jr. and his band will be delivering live tunes at the upstairs Juke Joint starting at 9 p.m. Alluring burlesque performances will take the spotlight throughout the evening. NYE Live! – At 9 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, the large-scale party will feature all-inclusive premium bar and food packages and a bevy of entertainment including a live performance by Go Go Gadget, complimentary midnight toast, multiple DJ sets, party favors and confetti canons. General admission tickets start at $90 and include access to all five venues, and all-inclusive premium bar and food packages including buffets in Broad Street Bullies Pub and Victory Beer Hall, plus bottled and draft beers, premium cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Philadelphia Bike Action Meeting – A new advocacy group for bike lanes and overall bicycling safety in Philadelphia – including South Philly – will hold its next general meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the Ethical Culture Society building at 1906 Rittenhouse Square in Center City. 

Philadelphia Bike Action! is seeking immediate action to create safe new protected bike lanes, improve existing bike lanes and for enforcement against cars parking in bike lanes. MLK Weekend at the Museum of the American Revolution – Honor the life, service and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through theatrical performances, pop-up talks, hands-on discovery carts, a poetry activity and more. Visitors can discover the ongoing promise of the American Revolution and explore what it takes to change the world. Plus, consider the ways you can create change in your community at an interactive community engagement wall. All MLK Weekend activities are included with regular museum admission. Learn about Philly’s Lazaretto – at 7 p.m. at Gloria Dei Church, 916 S. Swanson St., author David Barnes will tell the story of the Philadelphia Lazaretto, the nation’s oldest quarantine station, and talk about some of the deadliest epidemics in city history.
