BARRY PLAYGROUND

BOXING RESULTS
Two South Philly fighters picked up wins Friday night at the First Union Spectrum. Up-and-coming heavyweight Gerald "The Jedi" Nobles improved his record to 21-0 with 16 knockouts in an eight-round decision over Ron Guerrero. Local middleweight Joe Christy improved his pro mark to 4-4 with one knockout in a unanimous six-round decision over Tommy Attardo.

COREY ERVING BASKETBALL
The Corey Erving Summer Basketball Camp for ages 9-13 will run July 7-Aug. 1. Registration fee is $30. The organization is also looking for teams for its high-school summer basketball league, which runs Saturday-Aug. 15. There is no fee for participating. Call Daryl, 215-592-7560.

GOLF PROGRAM
The Philadelphia Department of Recreation will conduct its annual golf program this summer. Openings are still available for boys and girls ages 11-15 for sessions at the Longknockers driving range, 33rd and Oxford streets; Fisher’s Glen Driving Range, 4717 Fisher’s Lane; and the Cobbs Creek Golf Club, 72nd Street and Lansdowne Avenue. The program is held different weeks at each location, and features instruction from members of the Philadelphia Section of the Professional Golfers Association. The recreation department will provide all necessary equipment to teach each camper. The camp runs from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. The cost is $40. GUERIN BASKETBALL
Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets, will run a coed 14-and-under instructional basketball camp from July 28-Aug. 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $65 and includes T-shirt and lunch. Space is limited. Call 215-685-1894.

NEUMANN BASKETBALL CAMP

ORLANDO UPDATE
South Philadelphia native Tia Orlando won a silver medal in the floor exercise at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships over the weekend. The gymnast, who entered the event as the defending national champion in the floor exercise, finished with a 9.375, while Virginia’s Ashley Postell finished first with a 9.45. Orlando finished eighth in the all-around with a score of 73.675.

PHILADELPHIA SOCCER CLUB
The Philadelphia Soccer Club needs experienced players for its under-13 boys’ team (players born between Aug. 1, 1990, and July 31, 1991) for the 2003-04 season. The team will play against top-level United Junior League and Delco League competition. Call coach Joe McDermott, 215-624-3919.

POINT BREEZE BASKETBALL
The Point Breeze Youth Development Basketball League is looking for club teams and organizations for its summer program. The league will include high-school, 15-and-under and 12-and-under divisions. SEYAA is accepting registrations for its fall outdoor soccer program, which begins Sept. 12. Age divisions will be 4-6, 7-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17. TENNIS LEAGUE
The National Junior Tennis League is offering its annual summer lessons and league play from Monday-Aug. 14 at Barry Playground, 18th and Johnston streets; Seger Playground, Fourth Street and Washington Avenue; and Wharton Square, 23rd and Wharton streets. Beginners’ classes are held weekdays, 9 a.m. to noon; intermediate and advanced players attend 1-4 p.m. T-shirts, racquets and equipment are provided.
