Police have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted for sexually assaulting a 38-year-old woman in her own apartment Monday night.

The composite depicts a black male who is 6 feet tall, 180-190 pounds and 26-30 years old with short dark hair, a goatee and a thin mustache.

Wearing a black knit cap pulled low over his face, the suspect accosted the woman around 6:15 p.m. at the door of her apartment on the 2400 block of South 10th Street, said Inspector William Colarulo of the police Public Affairs Unit. The suspect stuck a gun in the woman’s back and demanded money, Colarulo said.

After robbing her of around $60, the offender forced the victim inside, where he raped her, said the inspector. The woman refused hospital treatment, but was interviewed by the Special Victims Unit.

Man sought in Wal-Mart shooting

Police continue to search for the man wanted for shooting a security guard Nov. 24 at the South Philadelphia Wal-Mart. The employee approached the man after he was caught on videotape attempting to steal DVDs, according to authorities.

Two days after the shooting, police released a photograph of Jonathan Miller, 23, whose last known address was in North Philadelphia.

Miller is accused of shooting Gilbert Padilla, 42, in the back with a 9 mm pistol while being questioned about the alleged theft at the store at 1601 Columbus Blvd. Police have charged Miller with attempted murder and related offenses even though he remains at large.

Detectives Bill McCusker and Christopher Ehmann studied Wal-Mart surveillance tape and determined that Padilla had confiscated the discs from the suspect before being shot in the back. The detectives matched the fingerprints from the discs to those of Miller, a convicted felon with a history of robbery, assault and narcotics violations, said McCusker.

Padilla is still recovering from his injuries, the detective added.
