The Philadelphia Stars baseball club, a multiethnic team of 13-year-olds, is seeking donations to fund its Throw Back Tour-’04, a 15-city cross-country odyssey of baseball, history and cultural awareness. Led by Steve Bandura, coach and program director at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 17th and Fitzwater streets, the young ballplayers will embark on a 3,700-mile barnstorming tour through the pages of baseball lore. The team will board an authentic 1947 Clipper Bus in mid-June to begin a 20-day journey visiting ballparks in Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit, Cooperstown and other cities.
