On Tuesday — Primary Day in the commonwealth — I, this paper’s official conservative Republican intern, voted for the first time in an election.
OK, I know what you’re thinking: An 18-year-old began voting as a registered Republican?
Why, yes — brainwashing from Fox News, Bill O’Reilly and my philosophy professor at Temple University started early for me.
I will come clean, though: I was clueless about some of the candidates for whom I voted, except George W. Bush (despite that it was absolutely meaningless to vote for him, as he is the only Republican on the ticket). G.W.B., you have one teen vote come November.
While I like the idea that my vote counts somehow, I retain the belief that it’s relatively meaningless.
Don’t get me wrong, I plan to vote for many years to come — if just to drive my liberal family and friends crazy.
