SPORTS DEADLINE

The deadline for sports notices is noon Monday. Submissions should be typed or neatly printed with both a contact number for verification and one for publication. Names should be spelled properly and include both first and last names. Phoned-in items will be rejected.


BOCCE SCORES

In this week’s men’s bocce action, the Pine Nuts defeated Today’s Styles, 12-10, and Chefs Market, 12-4; La Casa defeated Chefs Market, 12-2, and Gigilos, 12-10; Rudi’s defeated Gigilos, 12-11; and Todays Styles defeated Rudi’s, 12-4.

In last week’s women’s bocce action, Pastificio defeated Southern Auto, 12-2, and Mazza Bros., 12-6; Mazza Bros. defeated City Pizza, 12-7; and City Pizza defeated Southern Auto, 12-10.

MURPHY RECREATION SOCCER

Women’s self-defense classes are being offered at Murphy Rec Center, Fourth and Shunk streets, 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 20. Cost is $5 per class.

The center is also forming a walking club, which will start 1:30 and 6 p.m. Nov. 1.

PALUMBO FLOOR HOCKEY

Palumbo Recreation Center, 10th and Fitzwater streets, is accepting registration for its floor hockey program for ages 8 to 11 (cannot turn 12 before Jan. 8). SEYAA WINTER SPORTS

SEYAA is holding registrations for winter basketball and indoor soccer. The basketball program begins Jan. 7. The age divisions are: 4 to 6 for biddy basketball; 7 to 8; 9 to 10; and 11 to 13. Register at the sports complex, Seventh and Bigler streets, 6 to 8 p.m. weeknights and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

The indoor soccer program for ages 4 to 7 begins Jan. 12. Games will be played Saturday mornings at Taggart School, Fifth and Porter streets. Register at the sports complex 6 to 8 p.m. weeknights or 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Fee is $20.

SHOT TOWER SOCCER

In the opening contest, the Blitz defeated the Shockers, 4-3. Bridget Reilly, Derrick Williams and D’Andres Rolon scored for the Blitz, while Zack Senty and Michael Moore led the Shockers.

In the nightcap, the Rockies defeated the Waves, 3-2. Ross Dougherty, Kenny Dougherty and Billy Stagliano tallied goals for the Rockies, while Ryan Hewitt and Ricky Conway kept it close for the Waves.


JIMMY WILSON BASKETBALL
