In last week’s women’s bocce action: City Pizza defeated Southern Auto, 12-6; Mazza Bros. defeated Southern Auto 12-5, and Pastificio, 12-6; and Pastificio defeated City Pizza, 12-7.

CYO REGION 6 PLAYOFFS

Catholic Youth Organization Region Six crowned their basketball champions last weekend at Neumann-Goretti. In girls’ basketball, Mt. Carmel defeated Annunciation 40-36 in overtime. Montana Domenick paced the winners with 12, while Annunciation’s Anelyne Parker led all scorers with 21. In the boys’ title game, St. Thomas edged Mt. Carmel 34-29. Sharfeek Taylor led the champs with nine points, while Eric Holt tallied the same amount in a losing cause.

D.V.Y.A.A. BASEBALL

D.V.Y.A.A., 18th and Johnson streets, is accepting baseball registration 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. weeknights and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Age groups are: T-Ball (5-7); Pee Wee (8-9); Majors (10-12); and Senior (13-15). Call 215-468-1265.

PHANTOMS UPDATE

Comcast-Spectacor has reached an agreement to sell the Philadelphia Phantoms to the Pittsburgh-based Brooks Group. The team has been playing in the Spectrum for 13 seasons and won two Calder Cup championships. The AHL franchise will play the remainder of the 2008-09 season at the Wachovia Spectrum with their last home contest scheduled for April 10 versus the Hershey Bears.

SEYAA BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

SEYAA is accepting registrations for T-ball (ages 4 to 6); pitching machine (7 to 8); live pitch (8 to 10 and 10 to 12); Babe Ruth Baseball (13 to 15 and 16 to 19); and girls’ softball (12-14).
