As the 18-year-old male walked from the facility, a man on a bicycle approached him on the 2700 block of Tasker Street at 10:54 p.m. June 25, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The teen saw the suspect reach for his waistband. As he tried to run westbound from the shooter, several shots were fired striking the victim in the backside and right arm before the man pedaled away north on 27th Street. He was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition, but there is no apparent motive yet for the shooting, Tolliver said.

The offender was described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old and wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.

Double shooting

A man received multiple gunshot wounds from an unknown offender while he was walking down the street, and a biker was hit by a stray bullet in the same incident last week.

A 19-year-old man suffered a shot to his right thigh and two to his left leg as he walked along the 2500 block of South Marshall Street at 6:24 p.m. June 24, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. A 17-year-old, who was riding his bike on the block, heard the gunshots and saw several men running north on Marshall Street before he felt pain in his left ankle and ran inside a neighbor’s home, Tolliver said. While he did not see the shooter, he did notice a long, black vehicle drive east on Porter Street from Marshall.

Both teens were transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition, but neither had a description of the gunman.

‘That’s the guy who stabbed me’

A report of a stabbing on the 1200 block of South 19th Street led police to a 44-year-old man standing on the block with a blood-soaked shirt, Friday.

Lamitina, 55, of the same block, was sitting in the passenger side of a co-worker’s car when he and the 44-year-old began to argue about money, which eventually became physical, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Even though he was bleeding profusely when police arrived at 12:20 p.m., he pointed at Lamitina, and said, "that’s the guy who stabbed me."

The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses while police transported the victim to HUP where he received surgery for the stab wound to his upper left back and several stitches to his right hand. The man has been unable to talk to police as he is in guarded condition with a punctured left lung as of press time. Two pocket knives were recovered from Lamintina’s home, but it has not yet been determined if they were the used in the incident, Tolliver said.


Blaring stereo

After an argument about loud music a man threatened kill five women on South Street last week.

The group of women were entering a car on the 700 block of South Street at 11:51 p.m. June 25 when Joseph John Duffy, 47, of that block, confronted them about the loud noise coming from the vehicle, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. After an argument, Duffy allegedly told the 19-, 20-, 27-, 29- and 31-year-old that they would leave in a body bag, he and alledgedly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at each of their heads and slapped the youngest of the group.

Police saw the group screaming and running west on 700 block of South Street and then saw Duffy with a 9mm Kel-Tec semi-automatic pistol in his hand waving it around, Tolliver said. Police ordered Duffy to the ground, but he refused and allegedly put the gun in his shirt pocket, ran toward a gate and tried to close it before the officer entered. The police eventually confiscated the gun, which was loaded with six rounds in the magazine and another in the chamber.

Duffy was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, firearm violations and related offenses.


Bad toss

A man working for Donnelly Distribution was threatened while delivering flyers door-to-door in South Philly last week.

A 30-year-old man was delivering packets of flyers along the 3100 block of Juniper Street when he approached the home of Phillip Fioravanti, 53, who was sitting in front of his residence on a lawn chair at 11 p.m. June 24, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When the 30-year-old tossed the packet at Fioravanti’s dwelling, he nearly missed hitting the resident, but quickly apologized for his aim. He apologized once again and continued down the street when Fioravanti allegedly mumbled something.

The delivery guy took off an earphone and asked the Fioravanti what he said, to which he allegedly replied, "If the paper would have hit me in the face, I would have shot you. You f***ing nigger," Tolliver said.

The suspect then pulled a gun from his right hip and allegedly pointed it at the 30-year-old and then at a 24-year-old, who was in the back of the delivery truck and said, "You too. You can get shot too, nigger."

Fioravanti was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, ethnic intimidation and related offenses. The gun was recovered from his residence.


Followed from Wawa

Two men driving from a South Philly Wawa were followed by two males in another car who later tried to rob them early Saturday.

After leaving the convenience store at 1600 Columbus Blvd., at 3 a.m., a 21- and 22-year-old felt a 2000 or 2001 silver or gold, Chrysler 300 was trailing them, so the younger male pulled over on the 1200 block of Bigler Street, to allow the Chrysler to pass, which it did stopping at a stop sign at 13th and Bigler streets, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The two men pulled up behind the vehicle at the stop sign when a male exited the passenger side of the Chysler with a black 9mm handgun, pointing it at the males and demanded money. The driver sped away while the older male called police. The Chrysler followed the males for two more blocks before turning north on Broad Street.

The males were 6-foot-2, about 200 pounds. One wore a black muscle shirt and blue jeans while the other wore a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts.

iPod taken

A woman was robbed at gunpoint of her iPod touch on her way to work June 23.

The 19-year-old was walking along the 2800 block of Sheridan Street around 7:15 a.m. when a male grabbed her from behind, pulled out a gray semi-automatic gun and said, "give me your money," Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. After a brief struggle the man pushed the victim to the ground and took her iPod touch from her hand. He then fled through a driveway on to Marshall Street.

The man was described as a black male, age 20 to 25, 5-foot-4, 130-145 pounds, dark skin, goatee, afro and wearing along white T-shirt and dark blue jeans.

Yanked off SEPTA bus

A woman was dragged off a bus by her purse and got stuck under a parked car when a man stole her pocketbook Monday.

The 42-year-old female left her home to catch the bus on the 1300 block of Wharton Street at 7 a.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As she boarded, a man grabbed her purse pulling her off the bus, which left her wedged under a parked car. That suspect stole her beige leather Coach pocketbook that contained assorted papers, but it was later recovered. The woman sustained minor scrapes to her arms, which were treated at Jefferson.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 20 years old, 5-foot-7, wearing a red bandana, red shirt and blue jeans.
