A woman was mugged as she walked home from a family member’s home on Christmas Eve.

A 71-year-old was walking on the 1100 block of Bigler Street at 8:15 p.m. Dec. 24 when a man exited a dark-colored vehicle and grabbed her pocketbook containing identification, a bank card and $25, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The man knocked her to the ground before returning to the car and fleeing in an unknown direction.

The victim did not seek medical attention, Tolliver said.

The suspect was described as black, age 20, 5-foot-7, 200 pounds, with a scruffy beard and wearing a black jacket and dark pants.
