A third homicide in less than a month occurred in Grays Ferry.
James Abbott, 41, of the 6900 block of Chester Avenue in Southwest Philly, was gunned down in the back on the 3300 block of Reed Street in Grays Ferry at 9:40 p.m. Oct. 8, Officer Jill Russell of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. He was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead 40 minutes later.
