A man is believed to have gunned down his girlfriend and then killed himself inside his apartment.
Paul Aldate, 22, did not report to work July 18, so police were notified to check on his well-being, Officer Jill Russell of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. Officers arrived at his apartment at Gateway Towers, 3600 Gateway Drive, but no one answered the door. A building maintenance person allowed access to the apartment at which time officer found two bodies.
Police believe Aldate shot his significant other, Michelle Johnson, 21, of Collingswood, N.J., once in the head after an argument of an unknown nature, turned the gun on himself and fired once at his right temple, Russell said. Both were pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. The firearm was recovered at the scene.
