Whitman residents congregated Tuesday at Burke Playground, Second and Jackson streets, to plant a dozen four-foot-tall evergreens. Having already met with key community and City figures, a casino gaming license bidder organized the occasion to draw attention to a special services district plan that would encompass multiple local neighborhoods.
