An alleged attacker tried to flee a Queen Village crime scene via cab Sunday morning but ended up arrested instead.

The female complainant reported that at 2:25 a.m. while she stood outside Irish Times, 629 S. Second St., the unknown male approached her and began a conversation. He supposedly snatched her purse during an altercation and threw her phone against a wall, breaking the communication device, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

Reportedly running to Second and Lombard streets, he hailed a cab, with the victim calling police after noting the vehicle’s identification digits, company and phone number. Authorities tracked the ride to Manayunk, stopping it to have the complainant and a witness observe the passenger, whom they identified as the attacker. They arrested 32-year-old Christopher Bartell and charged him with criminal mischief, robbery and related offenses. He posted his $5,000 bail and awaits a Nov. 19 preliminary hearing.
