On Monday, the Philadelphia Police Department announced the captures of 22-year-old Brandon Ruffin, of the 2300 block of Wharton Street, and 22-year-old Douglas Woods, of the 1700 block of Ellsworth Street, in conjunction with the Friday death of Tynirah Borum.

Authorities responded to the 1500 block of South Etting Street at 9:40 p.m. and located the child, a resident of the 1600 block of Christian Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She received transport to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where personnel pronounced her dead at 10:21 p.m. Police contend that a 24-year-old male, who received a gunshot wound to the head that required assistance at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, was the intended target and listed him in critical condition, as of press time. A 28-year-old woman endured a gunshot wound to her left arm, and a 21-year-old man also suffered a blast to his right leg. Authorities listed both in stable condition.

As of press time, details were not available on Ruffin’s charges. The court system denied Woods bail, and he awaits an Aug. 20 preliminary hearing on charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearms violations and related offenses. Tynirah’s family has planned a viewing at 9 a.m. tomorrow, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at Church of the Redeemer Baptist, 1440 S. 24th St.
