Authorities arrested two youths for their alleged involvement in three matters last month.

In the first, officers responded to a radio call of a robbery in progress at Susan’s Grocery, 1501 S. 13th St, at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 23, and met with the complainant, who stated he had been working behind the counter when two unknown black males entered the store, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The first offender supposedly walked toward the counter and pulled out a black handgun while the second stayed at the front.

The primary aggressor allegedly pointed the weapon at an employee, barking “Give me the money.” He then reportedly aimed the gun at the complainant, approached the counter and tossed a black backpack to the complainant, who put approximately $500 inside.

Authorities also suspect the first youth for a 2:20 p.m. Christmas Day matter at Joe’s Food Market II, 1900 E. Passyunk Ave. In that situation, the complainant told them an unknown black male came into his store and threw a black backpack onto the floor. Producing a large handgun, he demanded cash but the owner refused and reached under the counter, leading the offender to flee without receiving anything.

In the final matter, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Christmas Day, two unknown black males entered New Matt’s Market, 1427 S. Sixth St., and demanded money from the store owner. The males gave the complainant a white plastic shopping bag, which he filled with $300.

After their images appeared online, a tipster contacted detectives and reported they are registrants at Horace Furness High School, 1900 S. Third St., Tolliver said. Based on the information and video evidence, authorities prepared photo arrays, leading to the suspects’ identification. Police arrested them on Sunday, charging the minors with criminal conspiracy, firearms violations, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime, theft, robbery and simple assault
