At 11:37 a.m. Friday, police responded to a person-with-a-gun call on the 2700 block of Earp Street and encountered a hysterical complainant, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Returning to her residence, they located her two duct-tape-bound children.

During an interview at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, authorities learned she had been on the first floor preparing food when she heard screams from upstairs. She looked up the staircase and saw a man holding her toddler son while pointing a black revolver at her. She grabbed her phone and ran out of the abode. Investigators discovered a forced-open second-floor window grate and are considering that the point of entry and exit.

The victim described the intruder as black, 5-foot-5 and in his 20s; having a dark complexion; wearing dark clothing; and armed with a black revolver.
