Disturbing the grease: Last weekend’s 9th Street Italian Market Festival filled stomachs with great options and hearts with suspense, as numerous individuals attempted to scale the 30-foot-high grease pole. Making its return to the celebration after a nearly two-decade hiatus, the lard-lubricated attraction inspired cheers (and a few boos!), with participants engaging in all sorts of strategies to try to obtain the perch’s prizes. ■
