A 3 a.m. bike ride took a scary turn for a cyclist who became a thief’s victim in Lower Moyamensing.

On Aug. 8, the complainant was riding her bicycle on the 2100 block of South 13th Street when she needed to stop at Snyder Avenue for a red light, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Someone started to pull at her backpack, with the force of the tugs causing her to fall. Her bike fell on top of her, allowing the offender the grab her wristlet purse, with unidentified contents, before he fled southbound on 13th Street toward Jackson Street.

The complainant, who sustained minor hand scratches that did not require immediate medical treatment, described the attacker as white, in his late 30s, 6 foot to 6-foot-4, and 180 to 210 pounds; having a thin build, light-colored hair, and black tribal tattoos on his arms; and wearing a dark shirt and light jean shorts.
