Police are after a man who robbed a taxi driver on Tuesday.

At approximately 10:03 a.m., authorities ventured to the 2800 block of Cantrell Street and met with the motorist from an unidentified company. He told them he had gone to the 1800 block of South Taylor Street to pick up a fare and learned the eventual aggressor wanted to go to meet his girlfriend on Cantrell Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

After waiting for 25 minutes on the expanse, the driver exited the taxi, with the passenger also departing. Pointing a gun at the motorist, he barked “Give me the money” and received $60, also securing a Samsung Galaxy phone before running eastbound on Cantrell Street.

The driver described him as black, 20 to 24 years old, and 6 foot; having a medium build, a low haircut, and a full beard; and wearing a white shirt and black pants and sneakers.
