Police arrested a teenager for supposedly shooting at an officer.

The law enforcement worker was on patrol at approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday when he noticed the smell of marijuana on the 800 block of South Street. He attempted to grab the attention of a few individuals, but one supposedly took off, running east on South Street and then north on South Darien Street, authorities said.

They added that as the officer chased the 19-year-old into a driveway on the 500 block of South Darien Street that the suspect shot at him at least three times. Backup officers reportedly found the adolescent, whose name they had not revealed as of press time, hiding in a yard on the same block. They transported him to Methodist Hospital, where personnel treated him for a right ankle sprain resulting from his alleged scaling of fences to avoid capture.
