An outburst of gunfire involving as many as 10 offenders left one man needing surgery.

Police were patrolling in the area of the Wilson Park Housing Development at 2:03 a.m. Sept. 18 when they heard gunshots, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Determining the blasts had come from the 2800 block of Jackson Street, they found the complainant lying outside of a residence, with blood flowing profusely from his right leg.

Officials had him transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where surgery tended to his injured limb. The victim, whom authorities, were looking to determine whether he took part in the incident or was a target, said as few as six and up to 10 unknown black males participated in the shooting.
