Police detained a Point Breeze man for allegedly attempting to rob a woman of her purse.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. Oct. 8, the complainant was entering a residence on the 1600 block of South 20th Street when someone approached her from behind and tried to grab the aforementioned item, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Due to the applied force, she fell to the ground, causing abrasions on her elbows and leading her to call for help. A family member responded and detained the reported aggressor until authorities arrived.
Law enforcement personnel busted William Cary, of the 1200 block of South 22nd Street, and charged the 29-year-old with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
