Five days after she allegedly burglarized a nearby home, authorities arrested a woman on her block.

The complainant in the matter said that at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 11, someone entered her apartment on the 2000 block of South Fifth Street through an unlocked front door. The occupant asked questions as the fellow female walked through the space and reportedly observed her take money from a bedroom, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The tenant demanded the return of the cash, but she stated the intruder did not return it and slapped a cell phone from her hand when she tried to place a call to authorities. The supposed aggressor then headed on Fifth Street toward Snyder Avenue.

At roughly 3 p.m. Oct. 16, police arrived at the same destination because the victim called to say she had seen the alleged burglar on the 500 block of McKean Street. Officers stopped Deborah Cowan and arrested her following positive identification by the complainant. They charged the 46-year-old with burglary and related offenses.
