Neighborhood Chatter: A sweeping image

The countdown is on! That’s right, the 10th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup is slated for Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Mayor Jim Kenney and the Philadelphia Streets Department held an outdoor kickoff celebration at Hunting Park Recreation Center on Wednesday. Residents from South Philly to North Philly, as well as the surrounding areas, will come together for a common cause — a cleaner and more beautiful Philadelphia. The goal for a cleaner, healthier Philadelphia starts with one vision: Zero Waste and Litter. Kenney launched the Zero Waste and Litter Cabinet in 2016, an initiative to increase the waste and diversion rate toward a long-term goal of zero waste entering landfills and incinerators.

Inspired? If the answer is yes, residents can register to volunteer for a Philly Spring Cleanup project. Organizations can continue to submit projects until Friday, March 24. For project and volunteer registration, visit phillyspringcleanup.com. …
