The countdown is on! That’s right, the 10th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup is slated for Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Mayor Jim Kenney and the Philadelphia Streets Department held an outdoor kickoff celebration at Hunting Park Recreation Center on Wednesday. Residents from South Philly to North Philly, as well as the surrounding areas, will come together for a common cause — a cleaner and more beautiful Philadelphia. The goal for a cleaner, healthier Philadelphia starts with one vision: Zero Waste and Litter. Kenney launched the Zero Waste and Litter Cabinet in 2016, an initiative to increase the waste and diversion rate toward a long-term goal of zero waste entering landfills and incinerators.

What would you do with a tree? With spring supposedly right around the corner, here’s your opportunity to get a free tree to plant in your backyard. The TreePhilly Program is a partnership between Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Fairmount Park Conservancy, and TD Bank. Well, another East Passyunk Restaurant Week wraps up another year tomorrow night (March 10), but it’s one of many exciting 2017 events on tap for the avenue crowd. Another biggie is penciled in for April 30, noon-5 p.m.. We are of course talking about the annual spring bash known as Flavors on the Avenue Street Festival.
