Wanted: Suspect for robberies in the 3rd district

Police need the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of multiple robberies.

The Philadelphia Police Department needs the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect accused of multiple robberies in South Philly.

On Aug.18, at approximately 4:00 p.m., an unknown male allegedly forced his way into a residence in the 1000 block of West Moyamensing Avenue, police say.

Once inside, the suspect threatened the victim with a wrench and took money, jewelry and electronics. The suspect was later captured on surveillance video in the 2400 block of South Warnock Street.

On Aug. 23 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the suspect entered the El Mercado Market located at 1715 South 7th Street. Once inside, the suspect pulled a handgun and walked behind the counter demanding money. After taking an unknown amount of money from the cash register, the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
