In recognition of Earth Day 2021, Essity, a global hygiene and health company based in Philadelphia, donated two porch swings along with dedication plaques to the city Department of Parks and Recreation for installation at FDR Park in South Philadelphia. Following several months of pandemic-related supply chain delays, the swings finally arrived at FDR Park and were installed in early November.
Last month, members of the Parks and Rec team and representatives from Essity and from Friends of FDR Park gathered at the Clubhouse to check out the news swings, which have been in use.
“These swings have added a new element of enjoyment to the porch area of our park offices, enabling guests who are here for our outdoor education programs, physical education programs or anyone visiting the park, another opportunity to enjoy the park experience,” said FDR Park Director Justin DiBerardinis. “We are grateful to Essity for believing in FDR Park, being a part of its revival and making this generous donation.”
