LoMo Fall Flea Market on Saturday
The Lower Moyamensing Civic Association will host a Fall Flea Market on Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendor spaces will be set up along the highly trafficked area on Broad Street between Snyder Avenue and Jackson Street (street-side in front of South Philadelphia High School). Past flea markets have featured over 60 vendors and 1,600 shoppers. Event proceeds benefit the civic association and the neighbors it serves. Library hosting Nonprofit Job Fair
The Free Library of Philadelphia welcomes nonprofit organizations and job seekers to attend its upcoming Nonprofit Job Fair on Oct. 13 from 3-5 p.m., at the Parkway Central Library. The job fair is an opportunity for those seeking employment in the nonprofit sector to meet with many local organizations and agencies planning to grow their teams.

The Gardens After Dark returns for another season
Bring your family and friends and discover the beauty of a glittering mosaicked labyrinth under the glow of colorful lights at 1020 South St. Admission allows you to explore both the outdoor sculpture garden and the indoor galleries, plus this year it also allows access to the rarely-seen mosaicked basement!
Gardens After Dark begins on Nov. 4 and runs every Friday through Dec. 30 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are timed in half-hour increments, but once entered guests can stay until close.
Property assessment First Level Review deadline extended
The deadline to submit a First Level Review for property tax assessments has been extended until Dec. 2, the City’s Office of Property Assessment announced. This extension will provide taxpayers more time to review the assessments and compile the information needed to apply for an FLR. The OPA had previously extended the deadline from Sept. 30 to Oct. 14 due to postal delays. Property owners who believe their valuation is incorrect can request a First Level Review by completing the form included with their mailed Notice of Valuation. ”This deadline extension is essential,” said Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson. “It will help ensure that Philadelphia homes are assessed accurately and Philadelphia homeowners are taxed fairly. The stakes are too high to not get this right. This new deadline will give homeowners the extra time they need to seek a review of their property assessments, in light of this year’s delay in mailing assessment notices. My heartfelt thanks to my City Council colleagues for supporting the call for a deadline extension, and to Mayor Jim Kenney and Chief Assessment Officer James Aros for their partnership.”
‘Phriends’ Murder Mystery coming to Counter Culture
Starting Oct. 28, Counter Culture at 514 South St. will host an interactive murder mystery show. Phriends is acted out by iconic characters Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joey, who take a trip down to Philadelphia for the opening of “Fairmount Perk,” a cafe chain started by Gunther. However, the fun doesn’t last too long as drama stirs up between the friends and some unexpected guests make an appearance. During the show, there will also be a scavenger hunt that can be played through an app on your smartphone.

PL130 opens new exhibition
PL130 Gallery at PhotoLounge will open an exhibition called Projected Exposures, which will run from through Nov. 12.
Projected Exposures will highlight 13 Member Moments of inspiring interviews and beautiful photographs that show each photographer’s point of view.
The show invites viewers to delve into the work by also reading the full artist interviews and providing feedback and reactions. The goal of Projected Exposures is not only to encourage the exhibiting photographer’s, but to help viewers develop their own critical eye.
Open house will be held on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at PhotoLounge, 130 S. 17th St.

Flea market on Saturday
The Philly Flea and Thunderbird Salvage will hold a flea market on Saturday, Oct. 15. More than 150 vendors will surround both the Hackett Elementary School at York Street and Frankford Avenue and Thunderbird Salvage at Frankford and Trenton avenues. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 266 will hold its 25th annual name reading at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Front and Spruce streets, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon. Sea Change is running indefinitely.
The River Feeds Back, going through Oct. 30, is an immersive sound installation created by artists Annea Lockwood and Liz Phillips. The exhibit brings visitors into the deep sonic environment of the Schuylkill River watershed through recordings and a layered sound map that captures glimpses of the river system including the life of aquatic insects, eels, fish and swirling currents.
Ocean Bound will run through Jan. 15, 2023.
